Walcan Unveils Modern New Logo, Honouring Heritage While Looking Ahead

British Columbia, Canada – July 30, 2025

Walcan, a trusted name in Canadian seafood for over 50 years, is proud to unveil its new company logo—a bold, modern design that honours the company’s heritage while representing its global growth and evolving identity.

Founded in 1974 on the coast of British Columbia, Walcan has grown into a respected processor and exporter of wild and farmed seafood sourced from the pristine waters of North America’s west coast. Our refreshed visual identity reflects both where we come from and where we’re headed.

A Logo That Tells Our Story

Every element of the new logo has been intentionally designed to carry meaning:

  • A Prominent Canadian Identity
The bold red maple leaf behind the "CAN" in Walcan makes our Canadian roots unmistakable. It’s a proud continuation of the national identity we’ve always embraced.

  • Global Perspective
The full-circle design encapsulates our international market reach, symbolizing our long-standing relationships with customers around the world.

  • Connection to the Sea
Two dynamic wave elements anchor the logo, connecting us to the oceans that supply our products. The blue wave abstractly suggests a swimming fish reminiscent of the prized “blueback” sockeye salmon, while the red wave subtly represents at a BC spot prawn—two of our core product categories.

  • A Nod to Our Origins
The red, white, and blue colouring in the lower arcs is a tribute to our name’s origin—Washington, Alaska, and Canada—the three coastal regions that have shaped our history and supply.

  • Colours That Endure
The use of strong, traditional hues reflects our unwavering commitment to quality, community, and heritage.

A Fresh Look for a Trusted Name

Our previous logo served us well for decades, symbolizing our family-run roots and the passion that built our business. This new design modernizes our visual identity while staying true to the values and regions that define us.

President Cam Pirie commented, “Our new logo is more than a fresh coat of paint. It’s a visual statement about who we are: proudly Canadian, globally engaged, and deeply connected to the sea and to our fishers. It’s a mark that reflects our future while staying anchored in our past.”

As Walcan continues to grow and innovate within the seafood industry, our new logo will appear across packaging, apparel, digital platforms, and at international trade shows—serving as a bold symbol of trust, tradition, and forward movement.
